Position Overview

The Museum Education Intern is an energetic and enthusiastic team member who will help provide play-based educational programs for children ages infancy through ten years old. This internship is unpaid.

Primary Museum Education Intern Responsibilities

  • Help with all MMCM educational programs, including field trips, day camps, school outreach lessons, and toddler time activities
  • Create original educational programming for our guests (weekend activities, camp activities, lessons, experiments)
  • Conduct lessons in the museum and at outreach programs in schools
  • Help revise and adapt educational lessons for different school grades and learning levels
  • Assist with coordinating and evaluating MMCM educational programs
  • Assist with the outreach and promotion of MMCM educational programs to Great Lakes Bay Region daycares, preschools, and elementary schools

 

Museum Education Intern Qualifications

  • Majoring or minoring in education, museum studies, family and child development, or other education-based areas of study at a college or university
  • Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards
  • Prior experience working with young children and/or families 
  • A persistent self-motivator who can work with minimal oversight and achieve goals on a consistent basis 
  • A genuine passion for working with children from infancy through ten years old
  • Comfort with speaking and interacting with large groups
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as collaborative skills to work with museum staff and teachers 
  • Ability to manage people and projects in a creative and fast-paced environment 
  • Detail-oriented and organized 
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of teamwork and positive energy among staff and volunteers

Position Overview

The Marketing Intern is an organized and enthusiastic team member. You will be responsible for developing marketing collateral. During the internship, you will work on fundraising events, special museum programming, camps and outreach activities. At the end of your internship, you will have a portfolio for future jobs and a possible letter of recommendation from our Marketing Director.

 

Marketing Intern Responsibilities

  • Create social media content and update social media to promote all museum events and recognize donor contributions
  • Help with the production of collateral including brochures, handouts
  • Help create and manage production of collateral for special events and fundraising events

 

Marketing Intern Qualifications

  • A Marketing major or minor at a community college or university
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign a plus
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to lead by example
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as collaborative skills to work with museum staff
  • Ability to manage people and projects in a creative and fast-paced environment

Position Overview

  • The Event Management Intern is an organized, and enthusiastic team member with a strong commitment to providing the highest quality guest experience. You will be responsible for assisting in coordinating and planning collaborative fundraising and community events

Primary Event Management Intern Responsibilities

  • Plan collaborative and community events as assigned
  • Organize facilities, manage all event details including decor, catering, entertainment, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc. with assistance from the Special Events Coordinator.
  • Contribute to coordination of the museum’s signature fundraising events (Kids at Heart, Indoor Tooth-Friendly Egg Hunt, and Touch-a-Truck).
  • Assist with day-of logistics for all collaborative and community events and all signature fundraising events.
  • Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with roles needed for volunteers during events.

Event Management Intern Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of computer programs, specifically Word and Excel
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to lead by example
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as collaborative skills to work with museum staff and community partners 
  • Ability to manage people and projects in a creative and fast-paced environment 
  • Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards 
  • A persistent self-motivator who can work with minimal oversight and achieve goals on a consistent basis 
  • Detail-oriented and organized 
  • Ability to connect with diverse types of organizations: schools, businesses, government, faith-based organizations, etc.
  • Comfort speaking in public
  • Prior experience working with young children and/or families
