Volunteers help with many museum projects – from field trips to special events to behind-the-scenes work, too!
Make some time in your schedule for fun! Join our team of volunteers and discover how rewarding giving back to our community’s children can be. Here is a quick sampling of our ongoing volunteer opportunities:
Gallery Guides – Gallery volunteers help us keep the galleries organized, lead activities for our guests like obstacle courses or parachute play, encourage young artists in the Art Mart, and much more.
Educators – Education students, current and retired educators, scientists, engineers, and passionate professionals help us with field trips, interactive hands-on programming, and day camps.

In addition to the satisfaction of a job well done, our regular volunteers can receive documentation of hours and letters of recommendation. We are excited to have you join us!
Who can volunteer with us?
- Individuals in 9th grade or 14 to 120 years old (may be hard bending after 120)
- Sports teams from schools, semi-professional and professional
- Businesses that volunteer in the community
- Fraternities & Sororities
- Service groups & Honor society groups & students
New volunteers must submit an application and background check by clicking one of the buttons below.

Event volunteer needs:

There is 1 shift available:
3:30 PM – 5 PM
Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:
- Sanitizing and moving tables & chairs
- Assist with gallery organizing
- Set-up themed craft and game stations
- Tasks may not be limited to this list
When: Saturday, January 24, 2026
There are 3 shifts available:
Shift 1: 9:45 AM – 1:30 PM
Shift 2: 1:15 PM – 5:15 PM
Shift 3: 9:45 AM – 5:15 PM
Volunteers are needed for the following tasks, which include but are not limited to:
- Entry level to experienced costume performers/characters (providing own costume)
- Entry level to experienced Face Painters (supplies provided)
- Guiding kids with themed crafts & indoor games
- maintain a clean and safe play space in one or more museum galleries
- Take down tables & sanitizing tables & chairs
- Cleaning up craft & game stations using provided written instructions
- Resetting galleries and classrooms
- Tasks not limited to this list
When: Sunday, February 22, 2026
There is 1 shift available:
9:30 AM – 11:30 PM
Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:
- Sanitizing and moving tables & chairs
- Assist with gallery organizing
- Set-up themed craft and game stations

When: Sunday, February 22, 2026
There is 1 shift available:
11:45 AM – 4:45 PM
Volunteers are needed for the following tasks, which include but are not limited to:
- Guiding kids with themed crafts & indoor games
- maintain a clean and safe play space in one or more museum galleries
- Take down tables & sanitizing tables & chairs
- Cleaning up craft & game stations using provided written instructions
- Resetting galleries and classrooms
- Tasks not limited to this list
Must be 14 years or older to volunteer for set up shifts
Set-Up: Wednesday 3/4/26
5 shifts available
Shift 1: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Shift 2: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Shift 3: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Shift 4: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Shift 5: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:
Cleaning, vacuuming & dusting
Moving tables & chairs
Setting up galleries & auction areas
Tasks not limited to this list
Must be 14 years or older to volunteer for set up shifts
Set-Up: Thursday 3/5/26
4 shifts available
Shift 1: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Shift 2: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Shift 3: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Shift 4: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Set-up tasks:
Cleaning, vacuuming & dusting
Moving tables & chairs

Must be 18 years or older to volunteer the evening shifts at the Fundraiser
At Fundraiser: Thursday 3/5/26
Shift 1: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Shift 2: 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Shift 3: 5:30 pm -9:30 pm
Tasks:
Facilitate games and raffles
Bus tables, check ID at door, or coat room
Monitor silent auction area & items
Assist with winner items distribution at auction close time
Remove food/drink debris during & at end of fundraiser

Must be 14 years or older to volunteer for clean-up shift
Clean-Up: Friday 3/6/26
3 shifts available
Shift 1: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Shift 2: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Shift 3: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Clean-up tasks:
Sanitizing and moving table & chairs
Reset the galleries & classrooms
Move left over items upstairs
Remove food and debris
